The story

The story of Quantum Break is set in the year 2016, in the fictional Riverport University campus and its surroundings in North America. The university has been experimenting with time travel for several years, but an experiment goes wrong, causing a “time stutter” that freezes time for everyone except Jack Joyce (Shawn Ashmore) and Paul Serene (Aidan Gillen). Joyce gains the power to manipulate time, while Serene gains the ability to see into the future. The two men must use their abilities to stop the stutter from destroying Riverport.

The game is divided into five acts, each of which is divided into two parts: a live-action television episode that advances the plot, and a gameplay section. The live-action episodes are produced by Sam Lake, the creative director of Remedy Entertainment. They star Shawn Ashmore as Jack Joyce, Aidan Gillen as Paul Serene, Dominic Monaghan as William Joyce, and Lance Reddick as Martin Hatch.

The gameplay sections are played from a third-person perspective and focus on gunfights and using Joyce’s time powers to defeat enemies. The game also features platforming elements, environmental puzzles, and stealth sections.

The graphics and sound

The graphic and sound designs of Quantum Break are both excellent and beautiful. The game’s visuals are some of the best we’ve seen in a video game, and the soundtrack is perfect for the game’s atmosphere.

The environment, the character models, and the effects are all top-notch. The voice acting is also very good. Shawn Ashmore does a great job as Jack Joyce, and Aidan Gillen is chilling as Paul Serene. The game’s soundtrack is fantastic, with a mix of electronic and orchestral pieces that fits the game’s tone perfectly.

The gameplay

The gameplay is a mix of gunplay, platforming, and time manipulation. The gunplay is solid, but the platforming and time powers are where the game shines. The time powers are used to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. They are also used in the game’s stealth sections.

The downside

The only downside of this game is its length. It can be done in about six hours. However, there are collectibles to find and side-quests to complete that will add to the game’s replay value.

Our verdict

Quantum Break is a great game with beautiful visuals, excellent sound, and solid gameplay. However, its length may be a turn-off for some players. If you’re looking for a fun and challenging game to play, Quantum Break is definitely worth your time.
